Entertainment tax waived for World Cup matches in Eden.

Cricket Association of Bengal chief Jagmohan Dalmiya today announced that the state government has waived the entertainment tax for the World Cup matches scheduled at the Eden Gardens.

Talking to reporters after the ICC team's inspection on Tuesday, Dalmiya said, "The state finance minister has informed us that the entertainment tax will be exempted from all the World Cup matches."

The West Bengal government had a proposal of imposing 20 per cent entertainment tax on the match tickets, putting the CAB in a tight position as a major chunk of the tickets had already been sold online minus the tax. The CAB had earlier made a request to the state government to reconsider the proposal arguing that the World Cup is not a commercial tournament like that of IPL.

The tickets for the India-England match on February 27 has been fixed at Rs 1500 and 1200 while for the remaining three non-India matches it will be sold at Rs 1000 and Rs 700.
